REGISTER HERE FOR TOURNAMENT BALL 2023

November News from the President

Good evening DC Everest Baseball Family,

If you are hunting this weekend, good luck.  If you are shopping, hanging decorations, or baking for the Thanksgiving Day celebrations, enjoy your time.  If you are playing or coaching basketball, hockey, wrestling or swimming, way to go and keep up the great work.  Our baseball extended family is so much more than just summer ball on the field.  It is about preparation, organization, family, and community.  This community is so generous and we are grateful to live here.

As the holiday season approaches, I would like to extend a huge THANK YOU to the families that make DCE Youth Baseball a success.  Behind the scenes, in the fall and winter months, many volunteers are working hard to have a successful spring season.

Green and Silver Travel Coaches are working on lineups so the greatest number of athletes can play.  Commissioners are scheduling indoor practice time and tournaments.  Uniforms are being sourced for the best possible pricing and shipping dates and the volunteer board is talking about ways to improve the fields and the playing experience for all families.

As some of you know, two years ago, my family had the opportunity to move to Florida, and we choose to stay here.  This is home.  This is where our family and friends are.  This is where we want to be and continue to make improvements in the facilities we have in our community.  Last weekend we attended the Greenheck Turner Center Community Kick Off and celebrated this addition to the DCE athletic facilities.

Please invite a new family to follow DC Everest Youth Baseball-Dceyb on Facebook and watch our website.  We want to connect. If you are interested in volunteering, we would love to have you.  If you have any questions feel free to reach out to me by email, phone or text.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Message from Jimmy Olafson, DCEYB President

Good evening DC Everest Baseball Family,

My name is Jimmy Olafson and I have been elected as the DCE Youth Baseball President.  This organization is a nonprofit, volunteer organization for you and your ball players.  In 2022 we had over 560 players in our organization from age 4-14.

First, I want to thank the outgoing president and board members who have donated their time and expertise to the 2022 Season.

Jamie Reimer, Past President and staying on the board as our League Advisor

Lucas Chariton, Treasurer

Tim May, League Advisor

Tournament Commissioner, Elmer Allen

Babe Ruth Commissioner, Mike Richie

AAA Commissioner, Dale Zander

Next, I want to introduce myself.  I have been coaching in the DCE District since 2004. Currently I am the JV Coach at DC High School. We have three children, age 13-10-6. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point after playing college baseball and continued to play baseball with the Everest Merchants until 2020.  Our children are involved in baseball, softball, football, band, dance, soccer and downhill skiing.

As a coach, dad, and player, I believe in transparent communication.  I like to email, text, call, talk, and over share as much as possible. As a board, we have reviewed the parent survey from this past season and there are a few opportunities for improvement.  We take this seriously and thank you for taking the time to provide feedback.

Each player who tried out for our travel baseball program has been notified by email. The top eight (8) players from evaluations were given the option to register for the Green Team.  This travel team plays eight tournaments during the summer weekends along with REC baseball.  Our intent is to make as many teams as possible, for as many players to play throughout the summer. The process and evaluations continue to evolve.

REC baseball evaluations will be this spring and players will be drafted on teams.  No player will be cut, and each team will be as “even” as possible.  More information to follow.

What can you do as a parent?  Stay informed during the off-season.  Read and share these emails.  Watch for winter workout opportunities.  Involve your player. A well-rounded athlete is involved in sports and activities throughout the year.

Former President's Message

DCEYB Families,

As we conclude our baseball season, I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped make 2022 another great year for DC Everest Youth Baseball! Thank you to the Board for your hard work, all the coaches for your time mentoring our kids, our sponsors, the Village of Weston’s Parks department and all the other volunteers who helped during the season.  It takes a community with passion and dedication to make our program second to none!  Thank You!!!

Many of you know that I am one to not believe in the status quo.  You either decide to get better, or by standing still, you are deciding to get worse.   With that, I am requesting that every family take the time to participate in a survey that will help us understand what we can do better as an organization for next year and beyond!

Here is the link to the survey:   https://forms.gle/KHLP28dD6dJPJqhh8

Please try to complete survey by August 31st.   Very Much appreciated!

Secondly, I am stepping down this year from my role as President, and it has been a great few years to be at the helm. I’m proud of the accomplishments and the organization is in fantastic shape for the next wave.   Speaking of the next wave, nominations to be part of the Board of Directors (and Key Position Leads) is due this September 1st in preparation for the annual Board of Directors meeting September 18th.   If you haven’t been part of this great group, I encourage you to consider applying for a position for 2023 and volunteer your time to continue all the good progress and make a difference in the DC Everest community.

Along with our Board, our Tournament Ball Managers play a significant role in guiding, developing and mentoring our youth in more competitive environments.  And they also become our stewards and face of our organization to other communities.   This year, we would like to accept applications to become the Green Manager for next year’s tournament season before our Showcase of Skills Tournament evaluations (Sept 11th).   Applications will be due by August 21st so that interviews can be conducted, and the Board can vote and approve the Manager for each respective age group by September 1st.  If you are interested in becoming a Manager, please fill out the attached Tournament Ball Manager application form.

For everyone just interested in playing Tournament Ball, please mark your calendars for Sunday, September 11th to participate in our annual Showcase of Skills evaluations.  Just a reminder, in order to be on the Green team, you must attend the Showcase of Skills evaluations and place in the top 8 of your respective group.  DCEYB’s goal is to have minimum of two teams at every age level.   The Green team is for high commitment / advanced competition, while the Silver team(s) are for next level competition / development.

In summary, some key dates to mark down:

  • Tournament Ball Manager application – Due August 21st
  • Fill out End of the Season league survey – Due August 31st
  • Board of Director nomination application – Due September 1st
  • Showcase of Skills evaluations – Sunday, September 11th (Makeup date tentatively 9/18)
  • Board of Directors Annual Meeting – Voting of new board Members – Sunday, September 18th

My very best to all!
Jamie Reimer, DCEYB President
